Charline Burton

Executive Director, Brussels

Charline Burton is the Executive Director of Search for Common Ground's European branch, in charge of all European engagement, partnerships, policy work, and all Europe-funded programmes. Charline Burton is based in the Brussels headquarters, where Search for Common Ground’s 30+ strong Europe team is based.

A Belgian national, Charline Burton came to peacebuilding from a career in the public sector and media, first as a French Language journalist in Africa and Europe, and later with the United Nations (UNOCHA) and Belgian's development agency Enabel. Charline lived and worked 10 years in Africa (DRC, Cote d’Ivoire) before returning to her home country and leading Search for Common Ground’s European branch.

She holds Master’s degrees in Information and Communications (ULB, Belgium) and Political Sciences (UCLouvain, Belgium). Charline is a frequent public speaker, effectively representing our teams at prominent conferences and in the media.
