Philadelphia Reentry

In 2002, Search for Common Ground began a project in Philadelphia on the growing problem of ex-offenders leaving the Philadelphia Prison System without resources to successfully reintegrate into their communities. We convened a diverse group of stakeholders who identified and published over forty findings and recommendations for improving the current system of reentry. Consequentially, Philadelphia was chosen to be a part of the national initiative, Ready4Work, which provided workforce development and supportive services for over 400 people returning to Philadelphia from prison.

Collaboration DC

Collaboration DC began in June 2004 with the aim of promoting collaboration and participation among DC citizens to change the way the District worked as a city. The program provided facilitation on public school improvement and collaborated on community development surrounding the issue of preserving a mixed income community while improving the positive impact of new investment, particularly on the low wealth population. Our role in this project ended in 2006, but it continues as a network of practitioners coordinated by the Community Building Institute.
