2020 has been a year of struggle and crisis, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, contentious elections, climate disasters, and stark divisions plaguing societies all across the world.
2021 is when we start healing and rebuilding—together.
Each person has a different definition of peace but they all envision a world without violent conflict — where people have learned to live with their differences, where peace and stability give everyone an opportunity to thrive.
My Peace, Our Future brings together people from across the world to share their personal visions of peace — and what they dream of doing in a more just and equitable world, free from violent conflict. Leaders can help set the tone for this world transformed. It’s a choice that they often need to be reminded of, and that’s what this campaign is all about.
From the United States to Myanmar, Lebanon, and Sierra Leone, young people are taking the reins of change and working hard to build safer, more just societies.
It’s their leaders that are lagging behind.
On occasion of the UN resolution declaring 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, we are sending a powerful message to government heads across the world, urging them to use their power to reduce the risk of violent conflict, invest in nonviolent methods to solve disputes, and support peace and stability.
